Are you are invited to a celebration event, but are not certain about a present? To give a bottle of good wine will be the right thing. In fact, there is no reason to wait for a suitable day for such a present. A bottle of wine is just a gift to please any person on any day. But, of course, it should be presented in the right way.
The simplest variant of packaging is a glossy gift bag. But nobody will be surprised with it nowadays. It is dull, not original. We will try to make an exclusive stylish packaging with our own hands.
How to pack a bottle for a present that would please and surprise the people you intend to? Concentrate all your imagination and have the necessary materials for this do-it-yourself work lined up: paper or paperboard, ribbons, straps of textile, lace, organza, hessian. It all depends on your taste and wish. If you want to decorate with your hands a bottle of champagne for a New Year celebration, you can make a pineapple-packing. We will speak about that later.
Simple and original (master class)
You can uncommonly decorate a wine bottle almost with nothing. Here is a simple example of an exclusive packaging. You will need only paper, a ribbon and a cord. Make a label or a pendant for the bottle neck. It is not difficult at all.
Required tools and materials:
- Packing paper (or you can use crepe paper)
- A bottle of wine
- A ruler and a pencil
- A glue gun or Pattex
- Tape – narrow, decorative
To decorate the bottle take the paper and measure off a piece of such a length that it could wrap the bottle and its ends could 1 – 1.2 cm overlap. Cut it off.
Then take the pencil, divide the piece into three parts and draw the line. Measure off 2 cm portions and draw lines perpendicular to the first line. We will cut the packing along these lines.
This is how our drawing should look like.
Cut the piece of paper along the lines to make a fringe.
Glue the side part of the packing up to the folding line. If you have no glue, use sticky tape.
Now tie it with a thread or cord and decorate with a bright ribbon.
As you see, the work is not difficult, but the packing looks great.
Packaging made of cardboard
How to pack a bottle and turn it into something unusual and beautiful with your own hands? Let us try to use cardboard, printouts, and ribbons. You may also add beads and small flowers.
Required materials and tools:
- Colored cardboard for trimming
- Photo printouts
- Glue gun or Pattex
To make a package, measure the gift bottle and draw a template on a piece of cardboard according to the sample.
An average bottle is 20 – 25 cm high and 24 – 25 cm wide. Do not forget to add 2 cm for a side seal. Draw the template and cut it out with scissors. Try how it fits on the bottle. If it fits well, glue the side of the package and then the bottom. Now it is time to decorate the package. You can print out and cut out these patterns:

Make these little roses:
Use this template. Draw and cut out with scissors.
Then take a stick and swirl the strip so as to make a rose.
After you have formed a rose, glue or sew its bottom part together.
Glue the roses to the packing. Make accurate holes in the cardboard and draw a ribbon through these holes. Tie it into a bow. You may add labels or hang a little watch. Not only a bottle of wine can be decorated in this way. You can use this type of decor for little jars of honey or jam, tea, coffee, etc.
Champagne with a pineapple
How to pack a bottle nicely and make a pineapple of it? Here is one more master class. Be sure, such a gift will be appropriate both for a man and a woman. We shall make a pineapple of sweets, green and orange crepe paper and a bottle of champagne.
- Sweets (approximately 50 sweets)
- Glue gun or Pattex
- Crepe paper – orange and green
It is better to choose light sweets – they are easier and faster to attach. Cut orange paper into 8×8 cm squares. Glue each paper square to the flat back of a sweet. Fold up all the paper edges. Glue paper squares with sweets on them to the bottle beginning from the bottom. Cover all of the bottle. Cut out leaves from green paper, tie them with a rope or cord and glue to the neck of the bottle. Then wind a rope or cord around the neck. Wrap the present into an old newspaper or a transparent film to protect it and transport safely.
